CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

Hello and welcome to Cougars first home of the 1987 season

Firstly I would like to thank the officials of Farsley Celtic F.C. for helping us out of a difficult situation and I apologise if you have been inconvenienced by our enforced ground switch which was due to circumstances beyond our control

Next Sunday we will return to Elland Road for the remainder of the season

I would like to extend a warm welcome to the Wrekin Giants and their supporters. The Giants had an outstanding '86 season and I feel they will be the team to watch in our division

Many things have happened during the winter months, too many to relate in detail at this time

I believe the most important change to be the formation of one league with everyone playing under the Budweiser banner. Personally I'm a little disappointed with the administration of the league to date, but I'm sure things will improve

Quite a few new faces on the team this year with players from Mansfield and Bradford making the switch at the end of the'86 season plus some outstanding rookies who have joined us following the trials. I am sure you will make them all welcome

We began our '87 campaign in fine style and I'm sure our resounding victory at Derby served notice to the rest of the conference that the Cougars are going to be a force to be reckoned with this season.

Lastly it's coach Brogdons' first home game since taking over the reins of the club. Don't worry about his shouting, but if strong language offends you sit near the back of the stand. Chuck is the most intense coach I have ever seen and his desire to win is only matched by his desire to play clean attractive football. I feel sure that under his guidance the Cougars will go all the way this year

Now relax, sit back and enjoy the game.
