SUPPORTERS
CLUB NEWS
At the beginning of 1986 no-one imagined that we would start the
1987 season with 150 members. The sudden death of Helen, the
co-founder, was a great shock to everyone and in future the
supporters club MVP will be presented with the Helen Cosco
Trophy.
Anyone who joins the supporters club is entitled to a discount on
official merchandise, away game travel and home game entrance
fees. If you are interested in joining, please go to the
supporters club stand where the membership forms are available.
This year the players are looking for personal sponsors from the
fans, which will automatically entitle you to a photograph taken
with the player of your choice and the possibility of having
their playing shirt at the end of the season. if you are
interested, please give your details at the stand or ask to speak
to me when the game has finished and I will give you more
information.
Because of my duties with public relations I will not be manning
the stand this year but I will always be available after the game
to talk to anyone who wants further details.
At the end of each home game this year there will be an
opportunity for supporters to meet the players on the field. We
hope that this will help supporters and players to get to know
each other better.
I would like to thank everyone for their support last season and
welcome all new members to this season's games

YOUTH TEAM NEWS
Since the end of last season the junior Giants as they are now
known have been in training for their first game. This came to
fruition in March of this year when they traveled to Luton to
play the junior Flyers.
the game turned out to be a memorable experience for our lads as
they were overpowered by a very strong side. The return game at
Oakengates turned out to be a repeat of the first game, the only
bright spot being that some money was raised for the chairman's appeal by the lads.
Although the main purpose of the youth team is to give youngsters
an opportunity to learn the basics of a complicated game, it is
also seen as a stepping stone to the senior side and already it
has borne fruit with one youth team player this year making his
debut with the main team. We all hope that he will be the first
of a great many.
There are still many positions to fill on the team at present so
any youngster aged between 10 and 17 who would like to learn
about the game will be more than welcome at any of the training
sessions.
